I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW MEDICATION CLIENTS
Given how awesome we all are at supporting our clients, I want this group to provide the opportunity for us all to benefit from the unique wisdom that each of us hold. To do this, I would like for each of us to take turns “chairing” the meeting for two weeks while also engaging as a participant.
Format: Introduction (~20 min): The chair will start the meeting by introducing themselves and going around the group asking members if they would like to do a brief “feelings check-in" (i.e. a 1-2 min share about how we are doing are at the moment as we enter the meeting space). The chair will then share a bit about themselves for 5-10 min - this can be whatever the chair feels like sharing - it can involve “origin stories” of how certain challenges developed, what kind of therapeutic work they have done and what sort of mental health problems they face now.
Group Activity (~20 min): Following this, the chair will lead the group through the “activity” portion of the meeting, drawing on their own clinical strengths (e.g. narrative therapy, parts work, DBT etc) and their own personal experiences with recovery. This could mean sharing a reading, teaching therapeutic techniques, leading the group in a guided meditation, providing a prompt for a writing exercise or anything else that the chair would like to incorporate.
Group Sharing (~20): For the final segment of the meeting, the chair will facilitate group sharing. This can be either calling on members one at a time (those who raise their little emoji hands!) or in an open group format where people can respond to what other people say and can ask for feedback. Members can share on whatever feels relevant - it can be a refection on the activity part of the meeting, something that comes up from past, or something with which they are struggling currently.
If there is interest, we can also keep the meeting open afterward for general chatting.
Reach out if you are interested! Nell
